In this painting, I am looking at the broken mirror without any expression, with one eye missing. Since the eyes are windows to the soul, you can see that my soul is black, and no repairs can glue this mirror together anymore. Enlargement #1: In this enlargement of my face, you can see the razor-sharp shards of glass that pierce through my black eye socket. This symbolizes horrific pain. Anyone who lost their parent(s) will understand this. Since painting this canvas, I’ve met parents who have lost their children (to diseases, accidents, etc.) and their pain is even worse. Can you imagine being in their position? This painting shows what it’s like. He was 64 years old.  - I was absolutely gutted over my father’s death.
